Waimea Middle School will hold a ‘Take a Lap!’ Fun Run/Walk, 3:30-7 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 23, to benefit the school. All are invited to the family-friendly gathering. The public charter school will also introduce their Local Advisory Panel, an elected leadership group which represents all school-community stakeholders including students, families, teachers, staff, administration, school board members and community friends. Enjoy a late afternoon run or walk with family and friends, followed by dinner, a silent auction and an awards presentation. Advance entry fee is a $10 donation for K-18 and older. Free for under-K keiki. Includes a custom logo hydro-pack, glow stick, dinner and awards ceremony. Make check payable to Waimea Middle School. Fee increases to $15 on race day. Assemble in school cafeteria. Cross country run/walk will begin near the shop and loop around the back/south side of campus.
