Shumate graduates from Cornell University

Sierra Kailani Shumate, of Waimea, graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University. She graduated from Hawaii Preparatory Academy in 2010 and was selected to receive a full scholarship to Cornell University where she attended for four years. Shumate was born and raised in Waimea and is the daughter of Nancy Cabral. Shumate was accepted at 20 years old to a five-year doctoral program in clinical psychology at Palo Alto University, a private psychology school in consortium with Stanford University. She plans to attend in the fall.
