Practical Agriculture to offer ‘Saving and Selecting Seeds’ presentation

Practical Agriculture for Hamakua will hold their fourth presentation of fall entitled “Saving and Selecting Seeds” to be presented by Dr. Russell Nagata, CTAHR extension agent, from 6 to 8 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 18., at the Laupahoehoe Community Public Charter School.

The presentation will teach fundamentals of seed saving and selecting, referencing basic botany of plants and seed biology to show how they affect your seed production goals. Parameters essential in maintaining a variety’s identity such as how many plants to save from, isolation distance and other topics will be covered. Examples of specific methods to control pollen flow will be provided.

There will be a $10 materials fee for adults, $5 for seniors, 60 and up, and students with valid student ID. Please arrive 15 minutes early to register. Preregistration is not required.
