Ka Makani strength and conditioning classes begin Jan. 6

J. Ka’ai Spencer, Hawaii Preparatory Academyʻs strength and conditioning coordinator, will offer Ka Makani strength and Conditioning classes beginning Jan. 6 at the school’s Nakamaru Fitness Center, Upper Campus.

Classes, which are open to all community members, are scheduled between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m., from Monday through Friday. Fees are $20 per session, or $180 for a 10-session package. Space is limited to 10 participants per class.

Spencer is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and a USA weightlifting coach with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and rehabilitation services. He also holds a Master of Education in teaching. Spencer will lead participants through a progressive training regimen that increases overall strength, power, and athleticism. All participants will start at Level 1 and progress to Levels 2 and 3 at the instructor’s discretion. The training style is geared toward the athlete and will include Olympic lifts, injury prevention, and enhancement of specific movements.
