Honokaa High and Intermediate School’s College and Career Center will hold a series of eight informative, family-friendly College Talk Story Sessions this school year to help students and their families explore the possibilities.
The first session will take place in the Honokaa High and Intermediate School cafeteria at 5:30 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 26. The session is called “College 101: An Introduction to College.”
The second session will also begin at 5:30 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 24, and will be held in the Waimea School cafeteria. The session is called “Where to Start: College Selection and Applications.”
This year the program has expanded to include dinner for the entire family as well as holding half the gatherings in Waimea town to accommodate the large number of students from Waimea who attend Honokaa High School.
This expanded program is part of a generous Gear Up Hawaii grant focused on serious college planning and goal setting. These Talk Story Sessions will continue to explore various college topics, including an introduction to college, how to choose a school, information about applying, finding money for college and more. College Talk Story Sessions will provide essential information and support for students and families in a relaxed setting.
All students and family members are invited to attend every event. No RSVP is required. For more information, call Nicole Ryan in Honokaa High’s College and Career Center at 775-8800, ext. 308, or email: Nicole_Ryan@notes.k12.hi.us.
