Honokaa High School culinary students give a silver medal performance in the Inaugural CTE Culinary Performance-Based Assessment

The Honokaa High and Intermediate School Culinary Teams of Mia Nakachi, Shereena Bird and Samantha Shea Miguel and Ashlynn Kaiamakini, Elijah Fernandez and Ethan McArdle, gave a Silver Medal performance at the Inaugural CTE Culinary Performance-Based Assessment on March 7 and 8, at the King Kamehameha Hotel. The students were challenged to create a Grab ‘n Go Meal for KTA stores, using local produce and a secret ingredient. The students brought their knowledge of farm-to-table concepts as well as an international flair to their dishes. The team of Nakachi, Bird and Miguel have also qualified to compete at the state tournament.
