With more than 100 swimmers registered in five levels, the Academy Swim Club has had an exciting fall season. Nine swimmers from Team Blue competed in the 15th Annual Bill Smith Swimming Invitational on Oahu in October. The meet required a “AA” time or better to enter achieved by Nora Healy, Jackie Payne, Maya Gee, and Kyra Hartley, who competed in the 11/12 girls division. Ava Jean Johnston, Karly Noetzel, and Taylor Doherty competed in the 13/14 girls division, while Emma Ostrem and Hannah Twigg-Smith competed in the 15/16 girls division. Doherty led the team by winning in the 100 backstroke (third) and the 200 individual medley (eighth).

Those who achieve “AAA” times in their age-groups will advance to the Hawaiian Swimming State Championships Dec. 18-21 in Kailua-Kona. Thus far, Jackie Payne, Kyra Hartley, Karly Noetzel, Taylor Doherty, Emma Ostrem, Teagan Rutkowski, Hannah Twigg-Smith, and Jake Anderson have qualified for individual events.

Looking ahead to the next season, we will begin with programs toward the end of January 2014. Notices will be sent out to our returning members first for priority registration followed by a time period for new member to registration. We do have restrictions on the number of swimmers we can accept in groups so be sure to register on time.
