Academy Swim Club begins new season

Members of the Academy Swim Club participated in the Hawaiian State Championships, Dec. 19-22, at the Kona Community Aquatic Center.

ASC was represented by: 10/Under Division, Noe Lindsay; 11/12 Division, Kyra Hartley and Ryanne Doherty; 13/14 Division, Taylor Doherty, Karly Noetzel, Tove Fostvedt, Ava Jean Johnston, Tola Mahoney, Michael Duggan and Keanu Young; 15/16 Division, Teagan Rutkowski, Jake Anderson; 17/18 Division. Hannah Twigg-Smith.

Placing were Hartley, Taylor Doherty, Noetzel and Anderson. Taylor also set team records in the 13/14 girls 100, 200, 500 freestyle events, 100, 200 backstroke events and the 100 butterfly. Karly set a team record in the 13/14 50 freestyle. Both Doherty and Noetzel have qualified for the 2014 Speedo Far Western Zone Championships, held in April in Morgan Hills, Calif.

The new season is now in session and enrollment is open throughout the year, though sections are limited. Swim Academy (swim lessons) sign ups are available through Coach Sarie at sarie.swim1@gmail.com, while novice, red, white and blue team registration is open at www.academyswimhawaii.org.
