Hawaii County Council member, Margaret Wille and Dr. Hector Valenzuela, organic crop specialist of the College of Tropical Agriculture, will offer a public presentation of Hawaii County’s proposed Bill 79, Prohibition of Genetically Modified Organisms, 7-9 p.m., June 24, at the University of Hawaii, Hilo, room STB 108. Valenzuela will discuss issues about GMOs in Hawaii and elsewhere.
The meeting concerns the upcoming County Council Bill 79 hearing on July 2. This is an informational meeting about GMOs, as well as a forum to discuss Bill 79. It will be open to the general public.
GMO Free Hawaii Island, an island-wide coalition concerned with GMOs in Hawaii, will be hosting the meeting. They will provide a short presentation and movie before the speakers begin.
