The Roots Skatepark is celebrating their Sixth Annual Go Skateboarding Day at 10:30 a.m. on June 22 in Kapaau starting at the Akoni Pule Highway 270 and Kynnersly intersection. The road will be closed to vehicle traffic and open to skateboarders for a parade ending at Roots Skatepark, located in Kamehameha Park. The road closure will end at 11 a.m.
Roots is seeking volunteers and donations in preparation of the event, which supports healthy youth activities and phase two expansion of the skatepark facility. All food items, proceeds go to skatepark materials budget.
Prize donated will be awarded to Roots Skatepark Contest winners, first, second and third runners up in 3-4 divisions. Proceeds from silent auction items will go to phase two construction.
