Hawaii Electric Light Company has scheduled three meetings on Hawaii Island, the last of which is from 6-8 p.m., June 6, at the King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel in Kailua-Kona, to seek public comment on the draft of their five-year action plans.
Meetings for the action plan, including those for Maui Electric and Hawaiian Electric in their respective islands, are taking place on Hawaii Island, Oahu and Maui. The action plans are part of the Integrated Resource Planning process, which looks at how the utilities will meet future energy needs. The Hawaiian Electric Companies intend to file an action plan for each company with the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission by June 28.
The Hawaiian Electric Companies will consider all comments in developing plans that will guide the utilities in the future.
The completed analysis and Draft Action Plans is available for public review. Information about IRP, including the four energy scenarios that guided the planning analysis, is available at www.irpie.com, the website of the PUC’s independent representative facilitating and monitoring the process. Ongoing technical analysis of the scenarios is available on the site.
