The Kohala Mountain Farm Pumpkin Patch at Kahua Ranch is partnering with The Sustainable Poultry Network for a seminar in breeding, growing and selling standard bred poultry. “Raising Heritage Poultry for Profit and Pleasure,” with Jim Adkins is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., May 11. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
A large portion of the seminar’s proceeds will benefit the Kohala Mountain Farm Pumpkin Patch, which supports and promotes “Buy Local Food for Hawaii.” The farm will award two scholarships to attend the workshop. Interested applicants should “like” the Kohala Mountain Farm Pumpkin Patch on Facebook and send a brief message (300 words or less) by no later than April 25 explaining why they would like to attend the seminar. The Pumpkin Patch will notify scholarship recipients via Facebook by May 1.
Cost is $89 for early registration until May 3, and $109 for late registration. Cost includes materials and lunch.
