It’s a year of changes for the iconic People’s Theatre, now in it’s 84th year, as the major challenge of converting to digital cinema looms. But hopes are high to clear this hurdle through a massive fundraising effort to be launched at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 25.
As the era of 35mm celluloid films comes to a close, the People’s Theatre ʻohana has been working to keep the theater open. Now the theater must raise $60,000 minimum for a digital projector, the new standard demanded by the movie industry.
The People’s Theatre fundraiser launch party will kickstart their capital equipment campaign, featuring a variety of local music, dance and special film screening.
Details to donate and perks for doing so can be found at www.honokaapeople.com. With any additional funds, the theater intends to form a non-profit. For more information, contact 775-9963 or firstname.lastname@example.org
