The North Hawaii Community Hospital’s 3rd annual pet blessing is 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5. Bring your cat, dog, parakeet or hamster to the hospital’s front lawn for the free, fun event to honor furry friends. This event was created to honor and include dogs from the hospital’s pet therapy program. Conducted by the Rev. Franco Acquaro with Amida Hawaii, a Pureland Buddhist Church, the event is an opportunity for owners to express their appreciation for the joy and companionship animals provide. Pet food donations are encouraged and will benefit the Hawaii Island Humane Society. For information, contact Laurie Edmondson at 881-4425.
