On Oct. 25, Kahilu Theatre will show “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at 10 p.m., with a pre-party at 8 p.m.
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” a 1975 musical comedy horror film is an adaptation of “The Rocky Horror Show,” a musical stage play by Richard O’Brien.
Directed by Jim Sharman from a screenplay by Sharman and O’Brien, the production is a humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the late 1940s through early 1970s. It introduces Tim Curry and features Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick along with cast members from the original Kings Road production presented at the Royal Court Theatre, London, in 1973.
Still in limited release nearly four decades after its premiere, it is the longest-running theatrical release in film history. It gained notoriety as a midnight movie in 1977 when audiences began participating with the film in theatres. The film has a large international cult following and is one of the most well-known and financially successful midnight movies of all time.
Cost is $10. Tickets are available at Kahilu Theatre at kahilutheatre.org. For more information, visit the website or call 885-6868.
