Honokaa Western Weekend, including a parade and block party, is Friday, May 24. The parade begins at 4:30 p.m., wiuth the block party from 6 to 10:30 p.m. The event will include food and craft booths by local community organizations, entertainment, live music, line dancing, contests including a banjo and fiddle contest. Also “Best Dressed Saloon Girl,” “Best Dressed Cowboy and Mechanical Bull.” Parade applications at JJ’s Meat Market.

Event will honor “Uncle Bill” Miranda, an extraordinary horseman and long-time Kukaiau Ranch foreman in charge of the horse breeding program and the father, grandfather and great grandfather of many who are still involved in Hawaii’s horse and ranching community.
