HELCO to discuss Kawaihae transmission lines and service road

The Hawaii Electric Light Co. will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of having a transmission line corridor and service road on Hawaiian Homelands in Kawaihae at a meeting, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sunday, April 7, at Kawaihae Canoe Club, north small boat harbor. The purpose of the addition of the transmission line corridor and service road is an increased reliability loop for North Kohala with potential for temporary power from Waimea, if line fails from Kailua-Kona; access to power for future development on Hawaiian Home Lands Mauka, and unpaved service road connecting Kailapa with the Kohala Mountain Road for emergency ingress and egress. The meeting will include time for questions, concerns and comments.
