The Shops at Mauna Lani, Island-Wide Solar LLC and Charge Bliss, Inc., a smart grid energy management company, in association with the Big Island Elective Vehicle Association, will hold the Hawaii Island Electric Vehicle Expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 6 at the The Shops at Mauna Lani in Waikoloa.
The expo is in conjunction with the grand opening of the first Hawaii Island electric vehicle Direct Current Fast Charger Station. at the Shops. The device can charge electric cars to 80 percent battery capacity in 30 minutes.
Kahu Danny Akaka Jr. will give a blessing at 10 a.m. Senator Mike Gabbard, chairman of the Energy and Environment Committee, is the master of ceremonies. Senator Russell Ruderman, vice chairman of Energy and Environment Committee and Councilwoman Margret Wille will also be in attendance. The event is free and open to the public.
