On Saturday, April 5, the Hawaii Cycling Club is hosting its first Hawaii Century to benefit North Hawaii Hospice. The Hawaii Century is a fun, non-competitive ride starting and ending at Samuel M. Spencer Beach, Kawaihae.
Bicyclists have a choice of three distances:
Quarter Century, 31 miles, starting at 8 a.m.
Metric Century, 62 miles, starting at 7:30 a.m.
Century, 112 miles, starting at 6:30 a.m.
There will be aid stations every 15-25 miles and a barbecue at Spencer Beach at the end. The Metric Century ride provides a great opportunity for athletes, who are entered in Ironman 70.3 Hawaii, to start training for and to become familiar with the course. Entry fees are $50 through March 23 and $60 thereafter. Participants will receive a T-shirt, food on the course, barbecue at the end with the balance of the proceeds donated to North Hawaii Hospice.
