All youth ages 9 and older are invited to attend Sew Fun starting Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the Honoka’a United Methodist Church on Mamane Street across from Blane’s Drive Inn. If you are unable to attend on Aug. 20, come when you can — the classes are self-paced.
Sew Fun will begin its seventh year of providing free sewing classes on Wednesday afternoons. Participants will learn basic hand sewing and proper use of a sewing machine from adult volunteers. After completing initial learning projects, participants select and/or design the projects they wish to make. The classes are self-paced and target each individual’s skill level.
Past projects have included potholders, pillowcases, clothing, pillows, purses, aloha shirts, quilts, stuffed toys and a field trip. Sewing machines and all supplies are provided free by the program. To register, go to the church on any Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. on or after Aug. 20 when school is in session. For additional information, call the church at 775-0566.
