The Department of Land and Natural Resources will hold an informational meeting on the management of Hapuna Beach State Park, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, March 28, in the southern pavilion at Hapuna Beach State Recreational Area. Meeting topics to include: a discussion of unexploded ordnance removal, recent CIP projects, a plan to put the food concession out again for public bid, a cost review for operating the park and issuance of a permit to begin parking fee collection for non-residents and commercial vehicles. Local residents will not be charged for admission to park if implemented, and there will be no change in the park hours. All park users and residents are urged to attend the meeting and to discuss the proposal to transfer Hapuna Beach State Recreational Area and Mauna Kea Recreation Area from DLNR to the County of Hawaii.
