Big Island Jazz and Blues Festival returns

The Second Annual Big Island Jazz and Blues Festival is May 30 to June 2, at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and other local venues. With performances from New Orleans and beyond, including cuisine, arts and culture, the nearly weeklong music festival will include Grammy Award and Na Hoku Hanohano winners, such as grammy winner Delfeayo Marsalis; saxophone master, Bobby Watson, of Kansas City recently inducted to the Kansas City Jazz Hall of Fame; Brint Anderson, award winning blues guitar legend from New Orleans; Grammy winner John Keawe performing his slack key jazz guitar-slazz; Mark Johnstone, pianist from Mick Fleetwood’s Grammy nominated blues band; John Kolivas from the Honolulu jazz quartet; Paula Fuga, jazz guitar master Benny Uyetake, jazz trumpet master- Junior Volcano Choy and the Jazz Alley TV Trio.

Shops at Mauna Lani main stage — 4-6 p.m., Friday, May 31. Jazz trio with jazz guitarist Benny Uyetake, and jazz trumpet with Jr. Volcano Choy. A free jazz event.

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel — 5-9 p.m., Saturday, June 1. The Second Annual Big Island Jazz & Blues Festival at the luau grounds stage. A historic day for Hawaii Island with some of the finest jazz and blues artists. Cost is $60 per ticket and VIP front row tables available
