Author Jen McGeehan will sign copies of her book, “MY YEAR IN A YURT: God’s Blessings While Living In 450 Not-So-Square Feet!” from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25 at the Waimea Mid-Week Farmer’s Market at Pukalani Stables, Parker Ranch.
In her book, McGeehan shares of her move from the resort community of Big Bear, Calif. to Paauilo, trading in her 3,000 square-foot home for a 450 square-foot rented yurt as she and her husband, Pat, worked to repay $600,000 of debt.
Through the April 2014 national release of her inspiring book, McGeehan has partnered with Habitat For Humanity West Hawaii and Yurts of Hawaii in Volcano make modern, permitable yurts available to those needing housing. Fifteen percent of net book sales is donated to The Yurt Project, with the first 30-foot yurt is scheduled to go up in Oceanview in 2015.
