A “Healthy Breakfast Favorites” public cooking class with gluten-free dishes by Landry Fuller is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, at Waimea Community Center, hosted by the County Parks and Recreation’s Culture and Education Department. Fuller is a certified health coach, nutrition counselor and teacher.
The class will feature healthy breakfast and brunch recipes using flavorful, nutrient-rich ingredients. Lower in fat and without refined sugar, the recipes can also be prepared easily. Recipes demonstrate and provide samples to taste include: a strawberry shortcake smoothie, gluten-free blueberry muffins, tempeh sausage patties, tofu scramble with leeks, and mushrooms and “goat” cheese.
The class fee is $15 per adult, which includes recipes and food tasting. Children are free. Registration is required, so contact Parks and Recreation, Culture and Education Department at 961-8706 to reserve a space. The class will be limited to 20 people maximum.
