The Fifth Annual “Go Skateboarding Day” in Kapaau starts at 10:30 a.m. on June 22, at the Akoni Pule Highway 270 and Kynnersly intersection. Motorists should prepare for an official road closure to vehicle traffic and open to skateboarders for a parade to Roots Skatepark in Kamehameha Park in Kapaau. This is an annual event to raise funds for expansion of the skatepark.
Roots Skatepark is seeking volunteers and donations in preparation for this event, supporting youth activities and “phase two” expansion of the skatepark facility. The goal this year is to match a $35,000 pledge from the County of Hawaii Parks and Recreation Department donated to support community youth services.
