About 45 divers, snorkelers and walkers came together to clean up the ocean for the Kohala Coast Dive Club and Kohala Divers Ltd. Beach Clean up on Saturday, April 27, at Kawaihae Surf Park.

According to Laura Bodell of Kohala Divers, the group logged all of their “finds” and sent it to Ocean Conservancy. The conservancy processes all the information for each area to see how to improve the condition of the ocean through education. In three hours, volunteers collected 159 aluminum cans, 92 glass bottles, 112 bottle caps, 72 cigarette butts, a tire and more from the shoreline and ocean.
