Friday, Sept. 27, is the final day for island high school students to submit applications for the weeklong High School Agricultural Internship Program in October. The ‘aina is the classroom for this new farmer training program, which will be based at The Kohala Center’s Ka Hua ‘Aina farm in Honokaa the week of Oct. 7–11.
Interns will gain hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture and learn about island food systems. They will visit and work on farms—and will earn a stipend for the farm work. The program also includes field trips to island farms, processors, and wholesalers, and the opportunity to meet agricultural leaders.
