Kaiser appoints Big Island managers

Kaiser Permanente Hawaii announced the appointment of Lloyd Tanaka and George “Skip” White as clinic administration managers for its Big Island clinics. Tanaka will manage the Kona and South Kona clinics and White will oversee the Hilo and Waimea clinics and Kaiser Permanente’s Mobile Health Vehicle.

Tanaka most recently served as Kaiser Permanente Hawaii’s clinic manager for the Waimea and South Kona clinics and its Mobile Health Vehicle. Prior to that, he worked for the County of Hawaii as an appraisal supervisor/valuation analyst managing appraisers in the Kona and Hilo offices. His management experience also includes positions in Portland with OCS Northwest, Seaport Management and Daioh International U.S.A. Corp. Tanaka is a graduate of Konawaena High School and received his bachelor’s from Oregon State University.

White joined Kaiser Permanente Hawaii in 1993 as clinic manager working to develop, build and organize quality out-patient medical care services at the Kona, Waimea and Hilo clinics. Prior to that, he served as industrial relations director for Hamakua Sugar Co. His health care and program development experience also includes positions on the mainland, including project coordinator at Arizona Center for Vocational Education at Northern Arizona University, and director of social services and discharge planning at Bingham Memorial Hospital & Nursing Home in Blackfoot, Idaho. White is a graduate of Northern Arizona University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology and business administration. He is committee chairman of Honokaa programs for the Boy Scouts of America.

Serving the Big Island since 1987, with the opening of its Kona clinic, Kaiser Permanente has since opened clinics in Hilo, Waimea and South Kona. Kaiser Permanente’s Mobile Health Vehicle, introduced to the Big Island community in the summer of 2009, also provides the community with the nation’s most technologically advanced medical vehicle on wheels, offering state-of-the-art digital mammography, basic exams and screening services, flu shots and pneumovax vaccines.

Kaiser Permanente Hawaii has provided total health to the people of Hawaii for more than 50 years.
